Down the dark ally the footsteps pressed
their victim's face fate turned to caress
the moon shining brightly, a life soon to end
the wounds gained tonight never to mend
The night would not pause to hear their last breath
even if it was the sweet sound of death
nothing would stop, nothing would wait
no one hesitant, no one late
Even as the strange figure would appear
no one but the soulless would be there to hear
all those strange people, strange places, strange things
all disappearing as if they had wings
First there was pain, then nothing at all
for all they know they could be at a ball
as the poison spread faster, getting in deep
you almost wish the monster would pull up a seat
Gloat in your handiwork darkhearted friend
take their small spirit and to your will bend
the laughter, the sorrow, the memories gone
your puppet survives till the sweet moan of dawn
ends your bleak work and frees the lone slave
to silently place them down in the damp grave
Restless you wander the great black abyss
more than you thought, the sunlight you miss
collect the tears shed by your victims of hate
bet your vast riches on a blunder of fate

Troubled Soul
A troubled soul I pass by night
in that troubled soul I see no light
the faintest flicker of their once bright flame
stomped into ashes, but refusing to wane
hoping once again to rise
trying not to believe its own lies
mind has taken over heart
asking darkness never to part
shedding tears with no release
their twisted game now hard to please
eyes open wide and yet still sealed
soul searching for a truth to reveal
fingers rapidly tapping the table
echoing inside a mind so unstable
burning, tearing its way outside
naively reaching for a place to hide
this quiet soul always yelling my name
as I pass by without a care to blame
all hope extinguished, all faith null
and I prepare once again for my nightly duel
- Its one of the early ones, but I still like it : )

Seen by a Lonely Wall
Echoing off the lonely wall
a broken voice whimpers small
slowly louder, its decibels climb
screaming, sobbing, passing time
chest rising then falling once more
angry tears splash on the floor
sweater clutched tight, hiding the pain
a tormented mind you cannot feign
lone wall and lone figure, both live in grey
in solitary silence each pass their day
so much injustice, with bitter consent
all of your smiles are out just on rent
but the world still turns with a unique will
not caring who it praises or kills
talking at night to no one but you
questions are plentiful, answers are few
no one responds when you shout at the sky
not even after your last broken sigh
nothing matters in this state
living, dying, love and hate
all are equal in hardened eyes
that see through the shattered heart inside
hating the tears but knowing their real
away from the wall the grey figure steals
cheeks flushed and wet
jaw will be set
facing the world, not the wall
is the hardest of all
a broken voice whimpers small
slowly louder, its decibels climb
screaming, sobbing, passing time
chest rising then falling once more
angry tears splash on the floor
sweater clutched tight, hiding the pain
a tormented mind you cannot feign

The Silent Sad Soldiers (a poem I did for World Literature last year)
Twenty miles, twenty miles
Twenty miles closer
Nearer the desert of hate
Marched the Sad Soldiers
'Into Iraq we go!
Go for the tanks!' They barked
Into the desrt of hate
Marched the sad soldiers
Into Iraq we go
Sad but they can't say no
Pride is still all you see
Up in the first row
Forced to salute the day
Forced to fight, left to pray
Forced to die then to stay
Faces like drops in the sea
Marched the sad soldiers
Gunfire throughout the trip
Gunfire breaks every grip
Gunfire starts simple slips
Battered and Beaten
Soldiers are reaped like wheat
Losing, they take their seat
Inside the hand of God
Far from their frazzled fleet
Marched the sad soldiers
Wave their guns in the sky
Wave them proud, wave them high
Shoot when the traitors lie
Send sorry souls a scar
Clouds above thundered
Somehow survive the fight
Die just to make things right
Bush and Osama
Search through the tears for light
Painted and Plundered
Soon they'll be home but no
Not the sad soldiers
Gunfire glares grimly down
Gunfire rains you might drown
Gunfire throughout the town
Battered and Beaten
Soldiers are taken out
Left under earthy grout
No voices left to shout
They're in the pearly gates
No longer plagued by doubt
No longer faces frown
So few sad soldiers
Memories will never die
Heroes can never hide
So many scarred boys
Let joy and hope collide
Let boys and men confide
Silent Sad Soldiers
